1,776 companies are eligible for the ElectricUp program

1,776 companies were declared eligible for the ElectricUp government program out of the 2,536 companies registered by February 3, 2021. ElectricUp is a funding program for small and medium-sized enterprises and those in the HORECA business, launched on 4 December 2020 to support the installation of photovoltaic panel systems as well as recharging stations for electric and hybrid plug-in vehicles.

The Ministry of Energy published the preliminary list of applicants declared eligible in the first session of the program, following the completion of the evaluation phase. The final lists will be completed by November 8 at the latest.

So far, 485 companies come from the HORECA field, while the rest – 1,291 (62.4%) are small and medium enterprises. Cluj County has 111 qualified representatives, out of the 150 registered companies – with an acceptance rate of 74%. Next is Bihor County, with 95 companies (5.35% of the total declared eligible), Ilfov, with 92 (5.18%), Argeș, with 88 (4.95%) and Constanța, with 70 (3.94%). Bucharest ranks only on the 9th position with an acceptance rate of only 65.3%. In Caraş-Severin, Brăila and Covasna, the interest was the lowest, with less than 20 applications submitted in each county and only 30 accepted, in total.

Outside Bucharest (64 companies accepted in the program), the cities with the most companies to will enter the ElectricUp program are Cluj-Napoca (47 accepted files, out of 64 submitted), Oradea (38 out of 57) and Arad (28 out of 39), followed by Timișoara, Pitești, Constanța, Râmnicu-Vâlcea, Satu Mare, Baia Mare, Buzău and Brașov. None of the only 28 companies that registered in Iasi was accepted.

The ElectricUp program is intended for SMEs and those in the HORECA field, and those who will be declared eligible will receive funding for the installation of photovoltaic panel systems for the production of electricity with an installed capacity between 27 kWp – 100 kWp, as well as recharging stations of at least 22 kW for plug-in hybrid electric and electric vehicles, up to a limit of 100,000 euros per beneficiary.

Between December 4, 2020 and February 3, 2021, 2,536 companies signed up for the program, but the evaluation of projects started only on April 9.

The Ministry of Energy claims that it will supplement the budget of the ElectricUp program and will soon launch a new registration session.
