The second edition of GREEN ENERGY EXPO & ROMENVIROTEC brought together over 8,800 visitors interested in innovation, sustainability and the future of green technologies. Under a new format that also integrated the URBAN SMART EXPO concept, this year’s exhibition was transformed into a comprehensive platform for dialogue and showcasing innovation in the four sectors that fully address the sustainable life of communities – energy, waste, water, smart city.
The biggest local event in the field of sustainability was officially inaugurated in the presence of representatives from the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests, the Ministry of Energy and the Department for Sustainable Development of the Romanian Government, institutional partners of the event.
Spread over 15,000 sqm, the exhibition included thousands of innovative technology solutions and equipment from 500 brands focused on renewable energy production, smart waste collection, sorting and recycling, drinking and waste water management, energy efficiency, digitised public services and the smart transformation of urban life. With an increase of 100% compared to the 2024 edition, it occupied the largest exhibition pavilion in Romania – Pavilion B2 – alongside the outdoor platforms of the ROMEXPO Exhibition Complex. More than 200 companies from 15 countries were present, and this year’s novelty was the coagulated representation in national pavilions of countries such as China, Switzerland, Poland.
During the three days, presentations, panels and debates were organised on topics of interest in the local and European context. Topics such as legislative changes at European level on the environment, the new directive on urban wastewater treatment, energy prices and the impact of the removal of the capping scheme, investment opportunities in renewable resources, regulation for the integration of energy storage, green energy for self-consumption were just some of the topics addressed. More than 150 relevant international and local speakers brought a rich perspective on the needs and opportunities of each sector, public policies needed, local and European changes and regulations, trends in the exhibition area, etc.
Topics of interest for local government were also debated – from accelerating the green transition (attracting funds, sustainable infrastructure, digitisation, regulation and legislative challenges) to strategic investments on energy, water, waste. One of the most eagerly awaited moments was the Congress of Mayors and Local Government in Romania, which brought together more than 500 mayors, county council presidents and other local government decision-makers.
“It is extraordinary what we have achieved through a joint endeavour between the private sector and innovation creators, the public sector, industry associations, media partners and everyone interested in sustainability,” said Camelia Buda, Director General of EUROEXPO FAIRS. “We have created the largest meeting place for green technology and dialogue between professionals in the field and representatives from business and government, and the unprecedented participation shows the need for the creation of this ecosystem to shape a sustainable life for all of us.”
