Vestas, the largest wind turbine manufacturer in Europe, last year reached a turnover of approximately 204 million euro in Romania, up 53.5%, the main factor for growth being the development of the demand in the local market, the 16th most important for the Danish group.
According to the company , Vestas mounted in 2013 about 140 new wind turbines, reaching an installed capacity of 868 MW, almost 60% higher than the end of 2012.
“Vestas CEU Romania is the leader of the wind market with more than 40% overall market share and we intend to strengthen our market position by growing faster than the market”, Cătălina Dragomir, managing director Sales, Vestas CEU Romania, recently told energynomics.ro Magazine. “We became in 2014 a large contributor from the revenues and taxes perspective showing our commitment to build up long term relations. Customer feedback shows that we are moving the company into the right direction been perceived as a strong and reliable partner for long term commitments.”
Romania went from six turbines installed in 2009- to 1,160 in the first three months of this year, being the 11th largest country in the EU with regards of installed capacity in wind projects. While in 2009 only 22 Vestas turbines were mounted in Romania, last year the group had 359 ” windmills” sold to customers as Lukerg Renew, STEAG, Energias of Portugal or Petrom.
