The companies from China want to refurbish and extend Rovinari thermal power plant, to build 3 and 4 nuclear units from Cernavodă, to buy Oltchim petrochemical facility and build the hydropower plant with storage by pumping in Tarnița, shows a press release of the Ministry of Economy.
“The investment potential of the Chinese companies is extremely important, in particular in the context of globalization. Romania carries out projects in key sectors – energy, transport, IT, agriculture. The Chinese state allocated a credit line of $ 10 billion for carrying out projects in Central and East Europe countries, and Romania’s projects are viable and can get the financing necessary for implementation”, stated the minister Constantin Niţă in a press release.
Following a privatization attempt of Oltchim that failed, the minister of economy met on Saturday with the minister of commerce from China, who discussed about wide scope projects that should be carried out in common, as well as about the access of the Chinese and Romanian products on the reciprocal markets.
The bilateral commercial exchanges between Romania and China totalled $ 3.28 billion in 2013, according to the Ministry of Economy. During the first three months of this year, the commercial exchanges rose to $ 931 million, on the increase by 23.5% compared to the similar period of the former year.
