Electrocentrale Bucharest (ELCEN), the largest producer of thermal power in the country, with annual turnover of 380 million euros, said that the feasibility study for a new central gas Fântânele, Mureș, with the Japanese group Marubeni has been completed, and the project company for the investment of 150 million euros will be registered in August.
“For investors with Marubeni we finished the stage of feasibility study and we are preparing documentation to make the joint venture. In July we want to have a stakeholder agreement to register the project company in August”, said Gabriel Ignat, general manager at ELCEN, according to zf.ro.
Minister for Energy, Răzvan Nicolescu, previously said he wants to begin a program to make ELCEN more efficient, which would include a change in the management.
“I am concerned about ELCEN’s situation regarding the implementation of the Government’s decision to integrate ELCEN and RADET (the municipal-owned heat and power distributor), and about the price paid by the company for the purchase of primary fuel. Specifically, I am referring to expenses incurred for the acquisition of imported natural gas”, said Nicolescu.
