Romania’s energy strategy must be clear, concise and not more than 20 pages long, Corneliu Bodea says. Bodea is the president of the Romanian Energy Centre in Brussels (REC), a RNC- WEC member (the Romanian organization member of the World Energy Council ) and vice president at Adrem Invest.

Bodea was recently elected as president of REC, replacing Stelian Gal in this office, energynomics.ro confirmed from different sources. “As the new president of REC I want this organization to become more vocal and more active,” Bodea said, answering to a question on how the Romanian civil society was consulted while the authorities worked on the new national energy strategy.

“The strategy must be clear, concise, established over a reasonable period of time and applied. It should be not more than 20 pages long,” Bodea said. He explained that the main focus of the strategy should be the investments in the energy infrastructure, and energy efficiency.

On strengths of the energy market, Bodea referred to the potential of development in the biomass segment. On the weak side, there is the lack of long-term bilateral contracts, which allows for projects to be financed by banks. “The Government and the Parliament are trying to find a solution” in order to regulate these bilateral contracts”, Bodea said.

On the other hand, the chairman of Romanian Energy Centre explained that the new leadership of the European Commission should take a more pragmatic approach, in order to support increased investments in the emerging countries, including Romania.
