Romania’s Court of Auditors placed under investigation for nearly a month the investments claimed to be realized by grid operators, to see if these are properly reflected in tariffs, as well as production costs of energy producers, announced economica.net. The discovery of inaccuracies on any components in the final prices could lead to lower energy bills to match the actual values.

“The Court of Auditors investigates at ANRE (the energy regulator) the performance of state controlled energy producers. A portion of the data needed to monitor them are at ANRE. Mainly, the analysis wants to see the costs of energy producers in an extended period of time. The institution thinks the production costs are too high”, writes economica.net, citing sources close to ANRE, information confirmed by the President of the Court, Nicolae Văcăroiu.

Every energy bill of every end-user contains the energy prices, distribution tariffs for low, medium and high voltage, green certificates, transmission tariff (with four elements: injection, extraction, system services and market operator services), cogeneration tax , excise duty and VAT. Of all the bill, energy prices represent nearly 31%, says Transelectrica.
