Russia has “fulfilled its obligations” stipulated in the agreement on the resumption of Russian gas supplies to Ukraine, concluded last Thursday between Moscow, Kiev and Brussels, the Russian giant Gazprom said on Saturday.

“The Russian government has signed right now a decree on lowering the price for exports of gas to Ukraine”, said Sergey Kupriyanov, a Gazprom spokesman, for the Russian news agencies.

“Therefore, Russia has fulfilled its obligations according to the agreement,” he said, announcing that Gazprom is “ready to resume gas deliveries to Ukraine from the moment (Ukrainian company) Naftogaz will fulfill its part of the deal.”

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree that sets a price of 378.22 dollars per thousand cubic meters of gas, valid until March 31, 2015.

After two days of negotiations, Russia, Ukraine and the European Union signed last Thursday evening in Brussels an agreement on the resumption of Russian gas supplies. The agreement stipulates that Russia will resume gas supply to Ukraine, and Kiev will pay Moscow, by the end of 2014, 3.1 billion dollars of a debt of 5.3 billion dollars.
