Prof. Dr. Jonas Puck introduces WU Executive Energy Expert – 2015 edition
Prof. Dr. Jonas Puck will present the 2015 edition of the innovative educational program WU Executive Energy Expert. Especially designed for the executives in the Romanian energy industry, this five-day program is a unique product on the Romanian market offering integrated approach to issues regarding year energy industry: current trends in the energy sector & changes, energy economics, negotiation, energy regulation with focus on recent EU directives have topics in the program.
In a recent interview for energynomics.ro, Prof. Dr. Jonas Puck mentioned the key trends for this year in regard with the energy demand and supply in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
“In brief, I expect stronger demand for oil due to the low oil prices and subsequently a reduction of speed in the efforts to rely less on oil specifically in the transportation industry. Further, we see continuing substitution of gas by coal as a consequence of high prices. Nevertheless, I still expect renewables to become more relevant nearly across all EMEA countries albeit with slightly reduced pace”.
How do you expect the energy companies in the EMEA region to react to a considerable depressed oil price?
From my perspective, the core reaction of most firms will be short-term oriented cost-cutting. As most companies expect the oil price to rise above the average marginal cost of around 80 US$ in the not-too-far future, most firms will not consider radical changes in their strategies.
Jonas Puck
Prof. Dr. Jonas Puck will hold his seminar on Current Trends & Changes in the Energy Sector, opening the 5-day WU Executive Energy Expert taking place in Bucharest.
