Companies interested in energy efficiency sector in Romania participated in the third edition of “Romanian Efficiency Forum”, organized by Govnet in Bucharest, together with representatives of the competent authorities. Half a day, in which renowned experts addressed the most pressing issues of the moment.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Tourism Maricel Popa found that “investments in energy and transport in Romania, in the past 25 years, have not led to the completion of major projects” and that “we cannot talk about energy efficiency producing energy from coal plants with technology from 1960.”
“We now have seven projects included in the National Energy Strategy”, Maricel Popa said, announcing that in its current form, the document includes district heating. In the coming weeks it should be completed the procedures for starting selection of consultant to create the Strategy.
In turn, General Director for Energy Efficiency at ANRE, Corneliu Rădulescu, announced that on November 2 will be launched a study on energy poverty and energy efficiency achieved by the Romanian Academy, requested by ANRE. “In Romania, 42% of the population lives in poverty and energy poverty even reaches 50%”, said Rădulescu.
