Laurențiu Ciurel was dismissed Friday from the job of general director of Oltenia Energy Complex (CE Oltenia) by the Supervisory Board of the state-owned company. The revocation was motivated by failure of reaching performance criteria, according to a document signed by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CE Oltenia, Cristian Eugen Radu. Revocation has been tested also in 23 November.

Laurențiu Ciurel was indicted in Turceni-Rovinari case, in which CE Oltenia is constituted as a civil party. The company is led by other members of the Executive Board, coordinated interim by Laurențiu Ciobotărică, CFO at CE Oltenia.

Laurențiu Ciobotărică has over 15 years of experience in energy and about 17 years in the financial sector. Between 2003 and 2010 worked for Distrigaz Romania, a subsidiary of ENGIE, and between 2010 and July 2015 was the CFO of Instal Service Technology in Bucharest.

Laurențiu Ciurel said recently that, if he is removed, will challenge the decision in court and “will stay home and earn a lot of money,” recalled Mediafax news agency.

He also challenged the decision of the majority shareholder of the company, the Ministry of Energy, on the annual mandatory quota for renewable energy next year. Former director of CE Oltenia mention that this decision is an uneconomic one that favors exporters of renewable energy and has a strong impact on domestic consumers and producers of energy on classical resources.
