Claudiu Butacu, the president of Solar Decathlon Bucharest, was appointed on December 30, 2015 as adviser in the staff of Cristian Bușu, State Secretary in the Ministry of Energy. Claudiu is 27 years old and in the last three years has raised contributions of over 1 million euros for EFDeN project, an initiative that involved the construction of a solar house as efficient and energy independent as possible.
He is Professional Energy Manager (certified by Schneider Electric University), Sustainability Manager (ECQA – Progam LEAD SUS), and is a member of VLER (Future Energy Leaders of Romania – e.n), a program run by the Romanian National Committee of the World Energy Council. Moreover, late last year, he received the Young Energy Professional distinction at energynomics Awards gala.
The house made by the team led by Claudiu Butacu became the first research center in Romania for comfort conditions.
“I am pleased to team up with this young man that has demonstrated that success in energy is about passion and belief and not necessarily about experience. We need a thorough reform of the administration in Romania, and this can only be achieved by involving young and valuable people which, as a university professor, I know Romania has. You just have to identify them and give them a chance”, said Cristian Bușu.
