The average price of gasoline in the US reached its lowest level in seven years, positioning itself at a little over 50 cents per liter, the lowest price recorded since March 2009, writes Agerpres. According to the American Census Bureau, the average annual income of a US citizen in 2014 was 53,700 dollars.

The US Agency for Energy Information announced, Thursday, that the average price of gasoline at the pump fell earlier this week to 1.996 dollars a gallon (1 gallon = 3.785 liters, e.n).

American Automobile Association (AAA) points out that in some states who do oil production or refining, gasoline pump price is even lower. Thus, in Missouri or Texas, a liter of petrol is bought for sums ranged between 43 and 45 cents.

In Romania, gasoline is purchased for sums between 1.1 and 1.3 dollars at an average annual income of 7,700 dollars.

The petrol price decrease comes as a result of the accelerated decline in the prices of crude oil. In the summer of 2014, a barrel of oil was trading with 105 dollars in the US, and in early January the same barrel fell to 31 dollars. (1 barrel = 159 liters).
