ENGIE Romania, the largest local gas distributor, had revenue last year of 975 million euros, 2.5% higher than in 2014, show data published by the French energy group. The net profit amounted to 52 million euros, down from the 2014 result, when it was 52 million euros.
In Romania, ENGIE operates a gas distribution network with a length of about 18,500 km and owns two wind farms that together have an installed capacity of nearly 100 MW.
ENGIE Romania management has repeatedly stated that mobility green fuels and location of production units at the point of consumption are two activities where the group is tempted to start businesses. In addition, digitization of energy sector motivates ENGIE to provide its customers with the possibility of signing exclusive contracts online.
Last year, ENGIE Romania took control of Congaz, the company that manages 850 kilometers of pipeline which supplies 57,000 customers in 14 municipalities in Constanța County. ENGIE Romania serves about 1.6 million customers.
