The Romanian natural gas transmission operator Transgaz, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with DESFA – the National Natural Gas System operator in Greece, including the National Gas Transmission System and the LNG terminal on the island Revithoussa, announced the company.
Signing the document aims to address the existing and the future joint projects upon gas transmission, in full compliance with the European Union legislation (EU), according to Agerpres.
“The representatives of the two energy companies have found the need for further development and the integration of the natural gas markets within the EU internal energy market, in order to diversify the supply routes of gas and creating access to new sources of gas, thereby improving the security of supply of natural gas at regional and European level.
“The two companies support solutions to increase the cross-border cooperation, to promote the transparent and non-discriminatory access for the market participants to their networks of gas transmission and intend to contribute to improving the security of gas supply in the region of Central and Eastern Europe, in accordance with the applicable EU legislation,”reads the press release of Transgaz.
According to the quoted source, at the event of signing the Memorandum of Understanding, have participated Evangelos Tournakis, the business delegate of the Greek Embassy in Romania, and Ioannis Markos attachee on economic and trade issues within the same embassy.
SNTGN Transgaz S.A. is the technical operator of the national transmission system and is responsible for its operation in terms of quality, safety, economic efficiency and environmental protection.
