For the fourth year in a row, the communication platform energynomics.ro awarded the most meritorious companies, projects and personalities in the Romanian energy industry. Varinia Radu and Iulian Harpa, representatives of the publisher Wing Media Energy Consulting, opened the Gala for energy, held again in the Marble Hall of the National Military Center, in Bucharest.
Four keynote speakers had comprehensive discourses on 2016 results and hot topics for the next year: Victor Grigorescu – Minister of Energy, Dean Thompson – Deputy Chief of Mission U.S. Embassy in Romania, Bogdan Chiriţoiu – President of the Competition Council, Mihnea Constantinescu – Ambassador for Energy Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Central moment of the evening was the celebration of the winners of energynomics Awards for each of the 9 categories. This year’s Jury members were: Niculae Havrileţ – president ANRE, Gheorghe Duţu – president ANRM, Vasile Iuga – partner PwC România, Bogdan Văduva – partner KPMG, Filip Cârlea – Romanian Academy, Alexandru Pătruţi – counselor CNR-CME, Sorin Elisei – senior consultant at Deloitte România.
Corporate Social Responsibility – Romgaz
Bogdan Văduca handed the award for Corporate Social Responsibility to Ioana Abramiuc, responsable for CSR projects Romgaz, for the activities developed in the “Community health Program”. Other nominated companies were Engie România and KMG International.
Energy efficiency – Elsaco Engineering
Sorin Elisei handed the award for Energy efficiency to Valeriu Iftime, President of the Board of Elsaco group of companies, for the project implementation at the CET Oradea source. Other nominated companies at this category were CONPET, Energy Serv, Ness Proiect Europe, the Partnership: UTCN – Cluj-Napoca City Hall – CREESC..
Deal of the Year – Japanese group NIDEC
Gabriel Avăcăriţei, Chief Editor energynomics.ro handed the award for Deal of the Year to Valter Taranzano, President Of Nidec Global Appliance BU and CEO of Nidec Motor Corporation Romania which took over in 2016 the Emerson Electric businesses in Oradea and ANA Imep engine plant, in Pitesti. Other nominated companies at this category were Fondul Proprietatea, Mazarine Energy, MET Group, Schlumberger.
Financing of the Year – EximBank
Gheorghe Duţu handed the award for Financing of the Year to Paul Ichim, vice-president EximBank, for the financing tools for Romanian exports implemented this year. Other nomination at this category was the local subsidiary of the Bulgarian company Prista Oil Petroleum..
Best Newcomer – Romelectro
Maria Tararache, Commercial Specialist la direcţia Oil, Gas and Chemical Services, SGS România handed the award for Deal of the Year to Cristian Secoşan, general manager of Romelectro, for the successful return to international markets. Other nominated companies at this category were Intelligent Energy Association, CEMS EPC, Electrica SA, EnergiaTa Innitiative and Renovatio.
Executive of the Year – Virgil Metea, Romgaz
Alexandru Pătruţi handed the award for the Executive of the Year to Mr. Virgil Metea, general manager of Romgaz for the operational achivements in the 2016, among which the completion of modernization of the compression station Sărmăşel, the awarding of the contract to modernize the Iernut plant, new discoveries and maintaining a high rate of proved reserves replacement. Other nominated executives were Daniela Lulache (Nuclearelectrica), Liviu Ilaşi (Conpet).
Outstanding development – University of Craiova
Filip Cârlea handed the Outstanding development award to Petre-Marian Nicolae, Director of the Department for Doctoral School of Electrical and Energy Engineering, University of Craiova for the innovative monitoring systems implemented at CE Oltenia. Other nominated organizations at this category were Conpet, Hidroelectrica, Romgaz, Transgaz.
Lifetime Achievement Award – Teodor Chirica
Niculae Havrileţ handed the Lifetime Achievement Award to Mr. Teodor Chirica, general manager EnergoNuclear, for the contribution to the development of nuclear energy in Romania and his extensive work within professional associations in the nuclear field in Romania and Europe, for over four decades. Other nominated seniors were Ion Lungu (president of AFEER) and Marian Cernat (Director General in ANRE, at the General Directorate for Electricity Market).
Young Energy Professional – Elena Macsim, Elsaco Energy
A graduate of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest in 2014, Elena Macsim has been working for over two years in Elsaco Energy, and in May she advanced to the position of Deputy Director Transactions. Elena Macsim has received an excellency diploma from George Constantin president of the VLER – Future Energy Leaders in Romania, a program alongside the Romanian National Committee of World Energy Council. Other nominated young professionals were Alina Constantin (RATEN-ICN), Gabriel Pavel (Universitatea Politehnică Bucureşti) and Ionuț Predoiu (Complexul Energetic Oltenia). Selection and evaluation of the candidates for this year’s Young Energy Professional Award was realized by energynomics.ro in partnership with RNC-WEC.
