Government motivation for maintaining the green certificates quota 8.3% in 2017- a figure contested by many green-energy producers – in that it was desirable that it “does not have a negative impact in the bill to final consumers.”

The government announced that it adopted at its meeting on Thursday, December 29, the decision approving the annual mandatory quota of electricity produced from renewable sources, benefiting from the promotion system through green certificates for the year 2017.

Thus, the impact on invoices to final consumers will remain constant as compared to the previous year, authorities say.

And the mandatory acquirement estimated for green certificates for 2017 was set at 0.320 units per MWh, corresponding to a final consumption of electricity exempted from payment of green certificates 6,700 GWh, while the impact of green certificates bill final consumer will be about 43.7 lei / MWh according to the National Regulatory Authority for Energy.

“The result was a compulsory quota estimated for the acquisition of green certificates for 2017 of 0.320 GC / MWh, corresponding to final consumption of electricity exempted from the payment of green certificates of 6,700 GWh. By applying the mandatory quota estimated for the acquisition GCs for 2017 the impact of green certificates in final consumer electricity bill is of around 43.7 lei / MWh, “the ANRE representatives said.

About 46 companies are extempted from the payment of GCs in various quotas ranging to up to a maximum of 85%.
