Romania will set the technical conditions for the gas exports to Hungary by 2020, according to the agreement signed Monday in Bucharest by the foreign ministers of the two countries, Peter Szijjarto and Teodor Melescanu, informs the Hungarian news agency MTI.

According to Peter Szijjarto, since 2022, more natural gas extracted from the Black Sea will be delivered to Hungary. Szijjarto added that Hungarian firms have already reserved the full capacity of 4.4 billion cubic meters per year of the supply pipeline linking Romania to Hungary, according to Agerpres and economica.net.

“This is the first opportunity in the last decades that Hungary has to buy large quantities of natural gas from a source other than Russia,” said Peter Szijjarto, who added that this cooperation agreement represents a historic breakthrough for ensuring security of Hungary.

Earlier, Romanian Energy Minister, Anton Anton, said he supports the Black Sea gas exploitation, but this must be done in such a way that Romania gets the maximum profit.
