Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă has decided to revoke Iulian Offenberg from the position of Chairman of the Competent Authority for Regulation of Black Offshore Oil Offshore Operations – ACROPO. Temporarily, the duties are taken over by Deputy Chairman Iulian Clişeru, appointed in October by former Prime Minister Mihai Tudose.

Established in 2016, ACROPO must monitor operators and owners for compliance with legal provisions, including inspections, controls, investigations and enforcement measures. The role of the institution is essential in the exploitation of the Black Sea natural gas fields.

In just over one year, ACROPO has already had three chairmen: in April 2017, Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu named Constantin Gheorghe, a former director of the Grup Servicii Petroliere – GSP. In November, Constantin Gheorghe was replaced by Iulian Offenberg, who have been now revoked by the decision of Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă, published in the Official Gazette.

The same issue of the Official Gazette also shows the decision to appoint Florin Radu Ciocănelea as State Counselor in the Cabinet of the Prime Minister with responsibilities in the field of energy. Florin Radu Ciocănelea have been reconfirmed in August 2017 as an administrator at Grup Servicii Petroliere, for a four-year term. Previously, Ciocănelea worked at Petrom (1997-2004), and since February 2016 he is a local representative of Canadian Bankers Petroleum, according to his LinkedIn profile.
