Energy Minister Anton Anton reaffirmed at 2018 Energy Strategy Summit that Romania’s energy strategy will be updated soon, and the new form of the draft will be put under public scrutiny in a few weeks. At the event organized by energynomics.ro, in Sinaia, Anton presented some of the strong ideas of this document.

“We would like to become a regional energy security pole,” the minister said, adding: “We want to be a hub for transport routes that unite Europe with neighboring areas.”

Anton Anton appreciated that Romania has “all the conditions” to achieve these goals. There is much to be done, the Minister admitted, referring to the storage of natural gas – “we need to ensure a more efficient, multi-cycle storage” – but “there is this direction we should keep on,” stressed the Minister of Energy.

At the same time, Anton stated that Romania aims at becoming “an efficient and competitive producer of energy and gas in Europe”. “We have all the conditions to become gas exporters in Europe and I think that will happen”.
