The Board of Directors of Romgaz decided to appoint Adrian Volintiru as General Manager of the company for a period of four months until the selection procedure of the General Manager was completed for a period of four years.
The press release contains an unusual statement for the top corporate environment, where the Romgaz Board of Directors emphasizes that “Mr. Corin Emil Cindrea, acting as interim director, has not been nominated again because of faulty management.” At the same time, the Board of Directors reaffirms its commitment to Romgaz’ development, “observing the legal procedures and defending the legitimate interests of society”.
In an interview with Agerpres, the chairman of the Board of Directors Liviu Nistoran stressed that Romgaz is a stable company “in terms of its functioning”. According to Nistoran, Romgaz’ most important objectives are to continue the exploration-exploitation investment program, to increase the storage capacity, to strengthen its role of electricity supplier on the Romanian market, as well as “to prospect the compressed natural gas area and to create partnerships for the exploitation of this market”.
In mid-December 2017, the Romgaz administrators revoked the term of general manager of Virgil Metea for “the deficiencies in the management activity, non-observance and non-implementation of the decisions of the supervisory and regulatory authorities, but also of the Board of Directors”. With the same CA Resolution, Corin-Emil Cindrea was appointed as an interim director, for a four-month mandate, extended in April for another two months.
