The General Council of Bucharest will debate on Thursday a draft decision aiming to provide a contribution of 85 million lei representing the co-financing for the purchase of 100 trolleybuses and 130 hybrid buses under the Program for the Improvement of Air Quality by Emission Reduction greenhouse gases funded by the Environment Fund.

The project is planned to have a total value of 487.8 million lei (VAT included). The related costs that may occur during the implementation of the project will be provided from budget allocations or other legally established funds for this purpose, according to Agerpres.

The explanatory memorandum shows that Bucharest Municipality intends to submit a financing application for the project “Purchasing less-polluting means of transport to improve public passenger transport in Bucharest”, in order to obtain non-refundable financial assistance. When submitting the application for funding, the CGMB’s decision, resulting in the provision of the necessary financial resources to support its own contribution and ineligible expenditure, is required.

Also, at the meeting on October 18, two other projects aiming at modernization and endowment of tram lines 1 and 10 will be subject to approval in order to finance them under the 2014-2020 Regional Operational Program. Both projects aim to acquire 12 new 36-meter trams, each involving a 120.8 million lei investment, with Bucharest’s own contribution of 1.8 million lei for each project.
