The average day aheam market (DAM) closing power price on OPCOM exchange was about 230 lei/ MWh in February 2019, down 34% from January 2019 but 29% higher than in the first month of last year.
This price sees the market return at the previuos summer levels (243 lei in August), and the dramatic decrease compared to January (the average price was 352 lei) took place on the background of quite large trading volumes. Thus, on February, DAM traded 2.13 TWh, a share of 44.4% of national demand, higher than in January (43.4%), even if in terms of quantity, it registers a decrease of 9%, explained by the higher consumption in January, according to economica.net.
This year’s evolution is contrary to last year’s. In February 2018 the price of DAM increased against January, by about 14% (to 178 lei), but the conjuncture must be mentioned.
