According to a study by the Romanian Wind Energy Association (RWEA), the cost of achieving a 35% share of green energy by 2030 is down by 18% compared to the current national strategy.

“Last week was the second consultation period on the PNIESC project 2021 – 2030, in which Romania proposes a renewable energy share of only 27.9%, according to the current scenario.

The results of an independent study, conducted using a methodology similar to that of the PNIESC project, indicate that a 35% renewable energy share in 2030 (Potential A scenario) can be achieved with lower total investment (18 billion euros compared to 22 billion euros), with an almost identical consumer price (113 Euro / MWh) and the safety and flexibility of the National Energy System,” said a RWEA statement.

“Between 25% and 30% of the cost of transition to a sustainable energy system can be covered by the tools provided by the European Union (Mechanism 10c and Modernization Fund), in which Romania allocates between 4 and 5.5 billion euros over the next 10 years (according to the ETS prices) “, according to the press release posted on the association’s facebook page.
