FIRST INFO First amendment to GEO 114: Coal gets rid of 2% tax, the gas cap of 68 lei/ MWh stays
There are currently intense negotiations on the amendment of GEO 114/2018, and the final version will be presented at the Government meeting on Thursday, said minister of Labor, Marius Budai.
“We will have a variant at the Government meeting on Thursday, but we have to have the right and most transparent version.” (…) The best option will be the one agreed by all parties,” Budai said, quoted by Agerpres.
He said that for now there is no final version, only a few conclusions, and discussions will continue.
”We have some conclusions, but I would also ask you and the market to understand that I do not want to launch any idea in the market right due to respect for the market, in order not to hurt the market in any way and not throw in any information to the market. We are having discussions. We are continuing this evening, hopefully in the shortest term to have a conclusion on this issue regarding GEO 114. Calculations are made (… ) We have digits on the table, we discuss them, put them in the table, we put them back to work, and we return to them, but we have to have a correct and transparent version, then re-debated with the market and only afterwards to put it in the public space,” the Labor minister said.
He stressed that new discussions among specialists on everything that means amending GEO 114 are possible.
“There are discussions about all changes on Government Emergency Ordinance 114. Each line ministry discusses the requirements that it has had at a moment from the market, harmonizes the market requirements with the requirements of the Government, we make a common position, draw the final conclusion and only afterwards we communicate what we have discussed. We are trying to get to the final conclusion, to present it to the Coalition, the Coalition makes the decision, because the decision is also a political one. We then put it in front of the market, we take the final decision, the Labor minister added.
