The Board of Directors of the National Bank of Romania has decided to keep the monetary policy rate at 2.50%, despite recent inflationary trends.
The National Bank of Romania also announced keeping constant the compulsory reserve ratio levels for foreign currency and lei savings of credit institutions.
According to a central bank statement, the board also decided on Tuesday to maintain the interest rate for the deposit facility at 1.50% per year and the lending facility rate at 3.50%. Which is equivalent to a ROBOR anchoring below inflation.
Consumer prices in February 2019 as compared to February 2018 increased by 3.8%. The annual rate based on the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) is 4.0%, according to National Statistics Institute.
