Romania ranks 40th, while Sweden ranks first at the top of the countries reported being the readiest for the global energy transition, according to WEF’s Energy Transition Index (ETI) for 2019. Leading the transition are also Switzerland and the other Nordic countries – Norway, Finland and Denmark, which are heading up a European-heavy list.

With an overall score of 63 percent, the United States comes in at 27th out of 115 countries, while Canada (No. 35), Australia (No. 43), and South Korea (No. 48) are the only advanced economies performing well below the average, due primarily to poor environmental sustainability policies. Unsurprisingly, the top 10 countries in ETI score are all European, according to ceoworld.biz.

The bottom five countries on the list are Haiti in last with a score of 36 percent, just behind South Africa, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, and Mozambique.
