Germany is a locomotive, a leader in many technologies and on the other hand Romania is a country with intensive economic growth, but we want to make sure that it is also a sustainable one, said on Tuesday at a symposium on Energy Efficiency in Industry, Swantje Kortemeyer, Head of the Economic and Trade Section of the German Embassy in Bucharest.
“The environment is a dominant theme on the political agenda in Germany, and if we look at young people, we see the environment as their main concern. There are demonstrations at the global and European level … Both Germany and Romania have committed themselves to reducing emissions and we are all aware that we are talking about ambitious targets and it will not be easy to reach them. On the one hand, we want more climate protection, on the other hand people want to have jobs and a standard for better life, more well-being … All these things will have to be harmonized, but that does not work unless we find solutions that protect the climate and which are also economically efficient. This will only happen if we cooperate. A conference such as the one held today is extremely important. Germany is a locomotive, a leader in many technologies, and on the other hand, Romania is is a country with intensive economic growth, but we want to make sure that it is also a sustainable one,” Kortemeyer said, according to Agerpres.
The Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania) on Tuesday organized the symposium on Energy Efficiency in Industry, the second phase of the event initiated and funded by the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy of Germany that addresses Romanian and German companies interested in developing bilateral energy efficiency in industry.
