Engineers at E.ON Future Lab have recently developed an innovation that places customers on the winning side: they also benefit when their data is used and gains better control over the statistical analysis of these data. The company announced it has registered this unique IT system for patenting. Recently, the European Patent Office has made public the patent application.
It is a device of the size of a 1 euro banknote that can be installed in a household, administrative building or company. It collects various data, for example, from intelligent house applications, evaluates them and makes them usable. The customer is the only one able to decide who can access the data streams.
In addition, he can use the device to earn money by providing statistical analysis of selected data for use. E.ON acts as intermediary and service provider, but has access only if the customer explicitly agrees. A high security encryption in conjunction with blockchain technology prevents theft or manipulation of data.
