ANRE: Electricity imports increased by 38% in the first five months, while production decreased

Romania imported 38% more electricity in the first five months of this year, compared to the same period of last year, while exports decreased by 40%, according to the latest monitoring report of the electricity market by the National Authority of Energy Regulation (ANRE).

Thus, if during the period January-May 2018, electricity imports were 1.15 TWh, in the first five months of this year they rose to 1.59 TWh. At the same time, exports decreased from 2.70 TWh to 1.60 TWh.

According to ANRE, domestic consumption decreased slightly, from 23.53 TWh to 23.43 TWh, according to Agerpres.

Domestic users’ consumption in the competitive regime was 78% higher, while users who pay regulated prices consumed 16% less electricity. The consumption of economic agents decreased slightly by 0.8%.

Electricity production was of 24.95 TWh, down 6.5% compared to the first five months of last year.
