Russian state company Rosatom announced that it has submitted a bid to become a strategic investor in the project aimed at building a nuclear power plant in Belene (Bulgaria), informs Itar Tass.
The selection procedure for choosing a strategic investor at the Belene power station was published in the official journal of the European Union on May 22, 2019. The deadline for submitting letters of interest expires on Monday evening.
“The Rosatom state company has submitted a tender within the procedure for selecting a strategic investor for the Belene nuclear power plant project,” the Russian company said in a press release, adding that its offer was accepted by the Bulgarian energy company NEK.
Sofia authorities want to find an investor willing to relaunch the Belene Nuclear Power Plant, a city on the Danube, a project whose costs are estimated to be at least 10 billion euros, according to Agerpres.
