ALDE has decided to step out of government, and Energy Minister, Anton Anton and Environment Minister, Grațiela Gavrilescu will submit their resignations on Tuesday, after the government meeting, sources told energynomics.ro.

“The coalition with the PSD breaks down, ALDE has decided to move in opposition and to participate in the next elections with Pro Romania. ALDE ministers will submit their resignations tomorrow (n.r. -Tuesday), after the government meeting”, said the quoted source. Later, ALDE leader Calin Popescu Tăriceanu officially confirmed the decision to leave the government.

“The coalition worked poorly, flawed,” said Tăriceanu, confirming the exit of the ministers from the government.

On Monday, National Political Bureau of ALDE decided to denunciate the protocol with the PSD, the exit from the government and the approval of the coalition with Pro-Romania.

Out of the ALDE ministries, only Ramona Mănescu, recently appointed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, replacing Teodor Melescanu, will remain in the government, leaving the party for entering PSD.

At the same time, the actor Mircea Diaconu also received ALDE support for the presidential elections. “I gave up the presidential candidacy… We will support Mircea Diaconu… On Monday, I will submit my resignation from the Senate,” Tăriceanu also said.
