The number of household consumers served by the traditional supplier, as a last resort, decreased by 14.77% in the first quarter of this year, compared to the similar period of 2018, due to the migration to the competitive market, according to the report of the National Regulatory Authority in Energy (ANRE) regarding the regulated electricity market in the first quarter of this year.

In total, 6.5 million consumers were supplied in the first quarter by the providers of last resort or FUI.

“The total number of consumption places for the final customers served by FUI decreased by 14.77% in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the similar period of 2018 and by 2.88% compared to the fourth quarter of 2018. This trend is determined, especially, by the domestic customers who migrated in the competitive market, as a result of the specific offers dedicated to this segment promoted by the active suppliers on the competitive market”, explains the authors of the report, according to Agerpres.

This although, in December 2018, the Government approved GEO 114/2018, which reintroduced, from March 1, 2019, the regulated tariffs on electricity.

Most went to the competitive market in February, ie more than 80,000 domestic consumers, but also in March, after the reintroduction of regulated prices, about 70,000 domestic users migrated to the free market.

At the same time, ANRE experts noted “the 68.35% increase in the number of consumption places for non-households taken under FUI (last resort supply) in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the first quarter of 2018, as a result of the restriction of the activity of several providers of competition”.
