The Enel Group, Europe’s largest utility provider by market capitalization, will be included, starting September 23, in the STOXX Europe 50 index, which includes the 50 largest companies in Europe.
The inclusion of Enel was decided following the periodic evaluation of the listed companies carried out by STOXX, the operator of the Deutsche Boerse group’s indices, including STOXX Europe 50.
The STOXX Europe 50 index provides representation to the leading companies in the most important economic sectors in Europe, covering almost 50% of the capitalization of the European stock market.
The market capitalization of Enel has now reached 68 billion euros, up 40% from the beginning of this year.
