The Republic of Moldova’s debt for Gazprom gas (except for Transnistria) is of 700 million US dollars, said the chairman of the Board of Directors of Moldovagaz, Vadim Ceban. The debt includes the outstanding debts of the enterprises of the thermo-energy complex, the negative exchange rate differences and the operational losses of Moldovagaz.
“Regarding the level of payment of final consumers for natural gas delivered in 2019, we can say that, as of September 10, 2019, the payment of domestic consumers was of 95.6%, and of the economic agents – of 92.2%,” he said, according to Infotag and Radio Chisinau.
At the same time, Tiraspoltransgaz’s debt for natural gas, as of August 1, 2019, is of “6.65 billion USD and is confirmed by court rulings and enforcement titles.” “Currently, some measures are being taken, including at the interstate level, regarding the preparation of legal documentation, which provides for a mechanism for repaying the accumulated debt for gas,” said Ceban.
He also added that Moldovagaz had difficulties in implementing the third EU Energy Package and requested assistance from the state authorities and the Energy Community in this regard.
