The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has triggered controls on the electricity producers to see the differences between the installed power and the available one, following the licensing cut for some companies, said ANRE President Dumitru Chiriţă on Monday, during the conference organized by InvestEnergy.

“We informed on another occasion that ANRE will trigger … now I can tell you that we have triggered controls on all the operators of electricity production in order to fully clarify the power installed and available in Romania so as to encourage investments in production capacities. We already have producers who volunteered to reduce their licenses and soon we will have new producers to whom we will reduce their licenses because they have capacities that are no longer available,” said Dumitru Chiriţă, quoted by Agerpres

The installed (gross) power represents the nominal active power indicated by the manufacturer and inscribed on the plate of its generator in the technical documentation of the construction plant for all the generators in operation and which have not been discarded by disposal. The available (gross) power is the maximum gross active power, of duration, that a generator group can give, in compliance with the mechanical and electrical safety conditions.

Transelectrica should increase its interconnection capacity

Transelectrica should increase its interconnection capacity, ANRE President Dumitru Chiriţă also said. “I think that an investment effort is well taken into account for Transelectrica, which should consider an increase of the interconnection capacity at the borders from 2,000 plus megawatts to 5,000 plus megawatts. If an increase in interconnection capacity is reached, we practically diversify the sources of supply for the benefit of the final customer,” said Chiriță.

“Last but not least, for the electricity, I think we need to take into account urgent investments of at least 3,000 megawatts, which have to come and fill what is today a production deficit and to take into account production capacities that will go out of operation in the next period,” said the president of ANRE.
