In September, electric and hybrid cars registered a share of 4% of sales, lower than the previous month, but for the first nine months (9M) of the year, this category of cars registered an increase of over 60% in volume, respectively 4,734 units, compared to 2,927 units, in 2018. The share of this type of cars in the market as a whole reached 3.7%, compared with 2.6%, in 2018, the statistical data published by the Association of Car Manufacturers and Importers (APIA) reveals.
In the subcategories, there is a 138.6% increase in full electric cars, as well as a 7% jump in plug-ins. At the same time, hybrid cars recorded a 52.8% increase, according to Agerpres.
Depending on the country of origin of the cars, the situation after nine months of 2019 is as follows: Romania, with a weight of 30.5%, Germany – of 17.8%, Czech Republic – of 10.5%, Turkey – of 9.7% and Spain – 8.3%. In this context, compared to the similar period of 2018, the sales of cars from domestic production increased by 10.8% and those from imports by 12.4%.
