The SPOT market of natural gas in Romania operated by BRM recorded the lowest price of the last 6 months, respectively 67 lei per MWh, writes a press release from the commodity market operator. Thus, the price on the spot market of natural gas fell below the regulated price of 68 lei, in line with the decreasing evolution of the last period.

According to BRM, on October 20, 300 MWh were traded at the price of 67 lei on the intraday market, and a total of 990 MWh traded on this market resulted in a weighted average price of 68.12 lei.

The total quantity traded on October 20 in the SPOT markets of BRM was 990 MWh on the intraday market, respectively 2,074.6 MWh on the day ahead market.

On October 20, 2019, the weighted average prices in the day ahead (78.65 lei / MWh) and intraday markets (68.12 lei / MWh) were below 80 lei per MWh, also continuing a downward trend.

Following the introduction of the regulated price for gas at 68 lei per MWh, through GEO 114/2018 and the subsequent secondary regulations, both the suppliers and the producers preferred to store a considerable part of the natural gas from the domestic production, waiting for a better price for cold season, BRM said in the press release.
