The average purchasing power per capita is, in Romania, of 5,881 euro, while the average amount that a European has available for expenses and savings is almost three times higher, respectively 14,739 euro, show data from a recent study launched by GfK.

According to the GfK research “Purchasing Power in Europe 2019”, Romania ranks 32nd in the European ranking of purchasing power per capita, thus being around 60% below the European average.

At national level, Bucharest leads in the ranking, with an average purchasing power of 10,452 euro, an amount 78% higher than in the rest of the country. The Capital is followed in the hierarchy by the county of Timiş, with an average of 7,564 euro and the county of Cluj, with 7,457 euro, according to Agerpres.

On the other hand, at the opposite pole of the hierarchy is Vaslui county, with an average purchasing power per capita of 3,706 euro, with about 37% below the national average and about 75% below the European average.
