Romania had the best country bid for Volkswagen in the competition to open a factory, but the decision was taken at a level other than that of the Ministry of Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship (MMACA), said State Secretary Paula Pîrvănescu.
“In these more than two years of mandate we have made efforts to bring the third largest car supplier to the country. Last week, a press info was speculating about the arrival of Volkswagen in Romania. I will not enter into discussions, for that at this moment we are under the confidentiality of the file, but I can tell you that we started the discussions in December of last year and, regarding the country file, that is our offer we made to them, it was the one better, but the decisions are not taken at InvestRomania, the decision is not taken in the Ministry for the Environment of Business, Trade and Entrepreneurship, these decisions are taken at a different level,” said Paula Pîrvănescu, quoted by Agerpres.
The Secretary of State in the MMACA argued that Romania is ready to receive a third car manufacturer.
