From January 1, 2020 until June 30, the suppliers of last resort (Enel, Electrica, CEZ and E.On) will receive only 60% of the consumption requirement of the regulated households from ANRE, from the two big producers, Hidroelectrica and Nuclearelectrica, the rest will be bought from the free market, but the final price to the domestic consumer will be regulated by ANRE.

Between July 1 and December 31, 2020 the percentage of regulated acquisition decreases to 40%, between January 1, 2021 and June 30, 2021 to 20%, and from July 1, 2021 the market will be completely liberalized, the four FUI will buy from the market, at the price energy market for the population, and ANRE will no longer regulate any price, according to e-nergia.ro.

There are two effects, foreseeable from the onset of the de-regulation: the two big, state-controlled energy producers, Hidroelectrica and Nuclerarelectrica, will be affected, and the electricity bills paid by the population will increase, from January 1, 2020.

Next year, the two companies will most likely sell energy below market price. From the estimates of some market players, the price increase will be about 5%
