Following Monday’s decision of the Bucharest Court of Appeal to send RADET into bankruptcy, speculations regarding the possible ceasing of the thermal agent appeared, but they were denied by ELCEN.
“ELCEN assures in this way all the factors involved as well as Bucharestians that it has the capacity and availability to ensure the supply of the thermal agent and the hot water in the winter season 2019-2020, as long as there will be the guarantee to pay the services provided … Opening the bankruptcy procedure of RADET does not automatically attract the opening of the bankruptcy procedure of ELCEN, as mistakenly stated by the Mayor General,” said company officials.

They admit that the heat agent could have stopped.
“The supply of the thermal agent and the hot water to Bucharest was ensured not for the City Hall’s care for the critical infrastructure of Bucharest but by the concern of the ELCEN administrators, who although according to the law had the right to suspend this supply due to non-payment of bills with more than 90 days of delay after delivery, they took the risk of continuing to provide it, for the comfort of the citizens of the Capital,” they say.
