ANRE needs a new law or Government Emergency Ordinance to approve the new phased deregulation of the energy market, from January 1st. Secondary legislation is not enough, and the regulator’s officials draw the Government’s attention that they must hurry, because otherwise the market will automatically liberalize on January 1, which will be “a disaster”.
“My concern is that I do not have an official confirmation from the Commission that I can make this deregulation plan. We have not received this confirmation in writing, I do not have this plan approved by law, by modifying GEO 114, or of Law 123, and we have less than 40 days of this year until the prices we gave expire this year for the suppliers of last resort. And the time is getting shorter and there are less and less chances for us to have a change in the law,”said ANRE vice-president Zoltan Nagy-Bege, quoted by e-nergia.ro.
ANRE recently put up in public debate two draft Orders that modified the orders given earlier this year, when the electricity market was re-regulated for domestic consumers, but even after they are adopted, it will not be enough for the market to be deregulated in stages, and not suddenly, explained Bege.
