We begin today to present the 2019 nominations for the energynomics Awards, with the Energy Efficiency category. Only one of the projects below will be awarded during the Gala from December 4th, but every company and everyone involved in these projects deserve our respect and the widest promotion. We thank all the companies and personalities involved in this effort to draw the image of the Romanian energy industry in 2019 through its achievements!

ALRO – Reduction of specific electricity consumption through the AP 12 Low Energy project
The ALRO – AP12 Low Energy project is carried out by ALRO SA together with Aluminum Pechiney, part of Rio Tinto Alcan (RTA). The project is based on “Brick Technology” – a concept developed by RTA; it consists in improving the design of the electrolysis tank by using a new cathode and anode design, modified / adapted to ALRO requirements, alongside with the beneficiary’s specialists.
The reduction of specific electricity consumption through this project will lead Alro among the top 5 places in the world, except China, in terms of energy performance, with a reduction of about 65,000 MWh / year.
Energy Policy Group – The “Efficient Romania” Program
The Energy Policy Group – EPG have launched this year the “Efficient Romania” program, with the support of OMV Petrom, the largest player on the Romanian energy market. OMV Petrom will contribute 4 million euros to this program, for the period 2019-2022, to promote energy efficiency at national level, through public information campaigns, education programs and financing of projects to increase the energy efficiency of public buildings.
Both the general public and the local authorities, which manage a large number of buildings of public interest, will have access to information on concrete solutions to reduce energy consumption, leading to lower costs with utilities and environmental impact. Also, a practical guide for energy efficiency will be developed, and the Academy of Energy Efficiency will offer specialized courses and training programs for representatives of public authorities.
Servelect – European money for an efficient Romanian industry – POIM 6.2 and POIM 6.4 programs
Servelect has been actively involved in the promotion of sources of financing through European funds for the implementation of energy efficiency projects: it has carried out the technical feasibility studies necessary to submit the financing files for about 30% of the projects submitted for POIM 6.2 and for 25% of the projects submitted for POIM 6.4.
Through POIM 6.2, projects are being financed that consider the implementation of energy consumption monitoring systems, while POIM 6.4 finances investments in high efficiency cogeneration systems. Some of the projects that received European funding through POIM 6.2 have already been implemented by Servelect, the beneficiaries obtaining concrete results, such as: reconfigurations in the pursuit of energy consumption by cost centers, reduction of the consumption need in different areas, adjustment and optimization of some parameters. of operation, automatic generation of reports of consumption and energy cost, etc., thus giving a new active dimension to the concepts of Smart Metering, Industry 4.0, but especially to the Industrial Energy Management, including through the contribution of the Servelect team to the training, training and increasing the competences of the energy managers. from the industry.
Termoline -”smartGreen” House
The Termoline Research Center has designed, implemented and monitored the “smartGreen” house – a green house concept, equipped with a smart, geothermal heat pump, isolated based on the passive house model, with an energy consumption that does not exceed 15 kWh / m² / year. Among the construction standards of the “smartGreen” house we mention:
- the insulation close to that of passive houses, with thermal bridges being avoided
- the boiler is equipped with a geothermal heat pump
- radiant heating and air conditioning T.A.B.S. (Thermally Activated Building Structures)
- cooling is done in a “passive air conditioning” system, using the temperature of the geothermal probes
- ventilation is provided with Passivhaus certified heat recovery system
- shading system with horizontal electric outside aluminum blinds
