The volume of this year’s investments amounts to 50 billion lei, respectively 4.5% of GDP, but the philosophy will be different, namely to make one or two big projects, said the Minister of Finance, Florin Citu, on Monday evening, mentioning the Sibiu-Pitesti and the Unirii highways.
“The investment money is… 4.5% of GDP. There are 50 billion (lei) for this year. Moreover, this year, to stimulate those in ministries and local administrations to use European funds, half of the money comes from EU funds, half of the budget. They accepted this challenge, they will go ahead. But there are 50 billion, 4.5% of GDP money on projects, there is no money wasted there. And this money will be used for investments, not going at mid-year by rectification to pensions and salaries. This will not happen…”, said Citu, at Digi 24.
He said that the money will not be divided into a thousand projects, “to put them on paper and do nothing”, but for two “large and clear” highways.
“I have another philosophy: let’s do one or two big projects, start them and do them. We can’t divide ourselves into a thousand projects again, put them on paper and do nothing. These are two highways, large and clear, which we want to start and a third one for which the Minister of Transport has already found a temporary solution. We have Sibiu-Pitesti, which has to be done, we have the Unirii Highway, which has to be done, and Comarnic-Brasov. These are the three things we want to do, to show that they can be done,” said he, according to Agerpres.
