Alstom, as a consortium leader, will provide electronic centralization, digital solutions for railway traffic management and electrification, within the project of modernization and refurbishment of the Sighisoara-Brasov section, lots 1 and 3, part of the European Rhine – Danube corridor.
The company part of the contract totals over 120 million euro, according to a statement.
The contract was signed by CFR SA and the RailWorks Association consortium, led by Alstom. The execution of the works is estimated to take at about four years. The contract aims to modernize about 170 km of railway infrastructure for the operation of passenger trains with a maximum speed of 160 km/h and includes the refurbishment of infrastructure and superstructure, electrification, traffic control and telecommunications systems, including GSM-R, as well and civil works.
