Almost half (45.72%) of the vehicles that the Romanian Auto Registry (RAR) inspectors checked in traffic during 2019 had major technical deficiencies, being declared non-compliant, centralized data show.
According to the quoted source, last year, 69,130 vehicles were checked in traffic throughout the country, and as a result of the problems discovered, 22,447 sanctions were applied, 17,938 registration certificates were withdrawn, 413 vehicles were immobilized and 113 ITPs were canceled.
Overall, of the total number of cars inspected, 31,607 units (45.72%) had major or dangerous technical deficiencies and were declared non-compliant, according to Agerpres. Most non-conformities were found in the lighting-signaling electrical installation (27%), axles, rims, tires and suspension (12%), chassis, frame and elements attached to the chassis (10%). Also, non-compliances with the braking system were detected in 4% of the vehicles checked, and in 1.57% of cases there were problems with the steering system.
At the same time, as a result of the measurements made by RAR inspectors, the maximum allowed level of pollutant emissions has been exceeded by 2,579 vehicles.
