TeraPlast will inaugurate the photovoltaic park from Sărățel in the second quarter (Q2) of this year, told energynomics.ro Alexandru Stânean, CEO of the group of companies with 100% Romanian capital.
“At the end of 2018 we signed an agreement with E.ON Energia Romania, worth 1.9 million euro, for energy efficiency solutions that involve the implementation of one of the largest photovoltaic power generation systems in Romania. Thus, on the roof of our factories in Saratel are installed solar energy systems that will produce a total of up to 2.196 GWh per year, which corresponds to about 11.45% of the total electricity consumption of the platform at Sărățel of the TeraPlast Group. After obtaining all the permits, currently the solar panels are installed and the electrical connections are made with the existing network. We estimate that the system will be operational from the second quarter of this year,”said Stânean.
“In addition to the investment of 1.9 million euro in the project with E.ON Energia, we have invested in state-of-the-art production lines, so that at present, our factories produce less energy consuming construction materials. From the environmental point of view, we invested 4 million euros in the recycling business line for the period 2017-2018, and from April last year it was transferred to TeraPlast Recycling. We are the largest rigid PVC recycler in Romania, the factory having a processing capacity of 12,000 tons annually, and in the top 10 in Europe. In the last three years we have invested over 6 million euro in this direction and we make important steps every year in reducing the carbon footprint through energy efficiency and increasing the amount of materials we recycle,” he added.
Last year, the group’s investments were of about 98 million lei. “Last year we were very close to the threshold of 1 billion lei in sales and for 2020 we budget a 1.25 billion lei turnover and a profitability of over 145 million lei,” Stânean added.
