The support measures for certain categories of customers affected by the current crisis cannot be solely the electricity suppliers’ responsibility or, in general, the utility providers’ responsibility, says Corina Popescu, CEO of Electrica. In her opinion, the risks, including the losses generated by this crisis, must be supported in a balanced manner by all economic sectors, and the state plays a crucial role in taking over and managing them, as has already happened in other European states.
“The support measures for certain categories of customers affected by the current crisis cannot be left solely in the electricity suppliers’ responsibility or, in general, in the utility providers’ responsibility. These support measures, in such situations, are identified and implemented by the state, but it must intervene with appropriate guarantee mechanisms or other forms of support for those who temporarily take on these tasks. The risks, including the losses generated by this crisis, must be supported in a balanced way by all economic sectors, and the state plays a crucial role in taking over and managing them, as has already happened in other European states,” said Corina Popescu, quoted by financialintelligence.ro.
“This is a time when solidarity and responsibility can make a difference. Resources are not unlimited and, especially in such situations, they must be carefully managed, especially critical ones. Therefore, it is important that only those who really need them, to use the tax facilities, during this period. It is a form of responsibility and also of solidarity.
It is important that the level of liquidity and solvency of companies in this vital sector remains an adequate one, including by avoiding the accumulation of overdue payments, which could deteriorate their economic and financial situation,” also said Popescu.
