The government wants to include a project called “Romanian Hydrogen and New Energy Technologies HUB” (“Ro-HYDROHUB”) as an operation of strategic importance within the Intelligent Growth and Digitization Operational Program 2021-2027, financed from EU funds, writes Profit.ro.

“The energy revolution imposed and started at the international level modifies the existing energy paradigms, putting new scientific and technological challenges in front of the states. In the context in which the mix, so varied in terms of energy, available to Romania, has undergone changes in a qualitative level with an impact on carbon dioxide emissions, hydrogen energy can help solve global climate problems and increase energy security at the national level,” a government document reads.

According to the quoted source, the purpose of the new facility is to accelerate the implementation of emerging hydrogen technologies in the national context, coordination and concentration of capabilities in this field being critical for connecting all potential participants and all capabilities across the existing value chain.
